Erykah Badu, The Alchemist Launch Joint Project

Erykah Badu has released 'Next to You', her first lead single in over a decade, in collaboration with producer The Alchemist, sampling his 1999 track 'The Realest'. The single launches their joint project Abi & Alan and highlights Badu's creative control as writer, composer, arranger, and co-producer. Released independently on Badu's Control FREAQ Records imprint after her departure from Motown, the song has been praised for its hypnotic production and intimate lyrics. The duo will debut their live collaboration with the Abi & Alan Japan Tour, with shows in Osaka, Tokyo, and Yokohama in late June 2025. The release comes after Badu's recent headline appearance at the Badu Presents: Echos 19 Juneteenth concert in Dallas. The project marks a significant return for the neo-soul artist.
