David de Gea is set to end his 12-month hiatus from football by joining Serie A side Fiorentina. The former Manchester United goalkeeper, who has been without a club since his contract expired in 2023, is expected to sign a one-year contract with an option for an additional season, earning approximately €3 million annually. De Gea had declined multiple offers from Saudi Arabia, the MLS, and other European clubs over the past year. His move to Fiorentina follows unsuccessful negotiations with Genoa earlier this summer. Fiorentina, which finished eighth in Serie A last season and reached the Europa Conference League final, will benefit from De Gea's extensive experience as they aim to return to the Champions League.
