Zelda Williams Urges Halt to AI Robin Videos
Zelda Williams pleaded on Instagram for people to stop sending AI-generated videos of her late father Robin Williams, writing "Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad" and warning she will restrict trolls who persist. She condemned the recreations as disrespectful and not art, calling them "disgusting, over-processed hotdogs" that reduce real people's legacies to cheap replicas and insisting they are "NOT what he'd want." Williams, a director whose credits include Lisa Frankenstein, has long opposed using deceased actors' likenesses without consent and raised the issue during 2023 SAG-AFTRA discussions. She also noted past misuse of Robin Williams's voice and criticized a wider surge of AI portrayals of deceased celebrities, likening the consumption to a "Human Centipede" of content. Although some in entertainment have suggested recreating Robin's voice with family approval, Zelda's repeated public objections underscore her view that such AI projects are ethically and emotionally harmful.
