Private Jet Crashes into Coos Bay, Oregon

A small private jet, a 2019 Honda HA-420, skidded off the runway at Southwest Oregon Regional Airport and into Coos Bay on April 7, 2025, after arriving from St. George Regional Airport in Utah. All five individuals on board, including the pilot and four passengers, were rescued and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, with some later discharged or transferred for further care. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident. The airport, lacking a staffed control tower at the time, relied on remote communication to track the plane's landing. Emergency response teams from multiple local agencies were deployed, and the plane was removed from the water with the help of a salvage company, allowing the airport to reopen. United Express temporarily suspended services due to the incident.
