Sioux City Council Offers City Manager Role to Austin Administrator Craig Clark

Sioux City has selected Craig Clark, currently the city manager of Austin, Minnesota, as its next city manager, with the city council authorizing staff to negotiate an employment contract with him. Clark, who has over a decade of experience in city management and ties to the Midwest, was chosen from a pool of three finalists narrowed down from 61 applicants, following a thorough recruitment process led by MGT Impact Solutions. He has previously served as city administrator in Worthington, Minnesota, and Clayton, Wisconsin, and also has experience at the local, state, and federal levels, which he believes will aid in securing funding for Sioux City. The search for a new city manager began after the retirement of Bob Padmore, who served over 25 years, with interim management handled by Mike Collett since April. Councilmember Julie Schoenherr praised Clark’s community-focused approach and economic development initiatives, noting he stood out among the finalists. While no official start date has been set, negotiations could last a couple of months, with Clark possibly arriving in early fall.
