Marvel's Ironheart, starring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 24, introducing audiences to a new armored hero who builds her own suit from limited resources, in contrast to Tony Stark's billionaire origins. Thorne has revealed that Robert Downey Jr., who played Iron Man, gave her his personal blessing and encouragement after filming wrapped, symbolically passing the torch to the next generation. The series highlights Riri's ingenuity and her evolution following her introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with her experiences in Wakanda expanding her technological capabilities. The show will feature a practical suit on set, using techniques reminiscent of the original Iron Man film for visual authenticity. Marvel executives noted that recent delays in the show's release were due to a strategic decision to space out Marvel projects more thoughtfully. Fans can expect Riri to don several versions of her suit, with much of the series focusing on her early prototype design.
