Freed Raises $30M Series A to Expand AI Medical Documentation
Freed, an AI clinician assistant, has raised $30 million in Series A funding led by Sequoia Capital, bringing its total funding to $34 million. The company aims to alleviate clinician burnout by automating medical documentation, allowing healthcare providers to reclaim time spent on paperwork, which averages 19 hours per week. Since its launch in 2023, Freed has attracted over 17,000 paying customers across 96 specialties, saving clinicians more than 2.5 million hours of documentation time. New features being rolled out include specialty-specific notes and AI-generated patient summaries to enhance workflow efficiency. Freed's direct-to-clinician model allows for rapid adoption, and it is experiencing a growth rate similar to leading consumer SaaS companies. The startup's CEO, Erez Druk, emphasizes the importance of supporting clinicians to ensure they can focus on patient care while maintaining a balanced professional life.
