Person of Interest in Charlie Kirk Shooting in Custody Utah
A person of interest is in custody following the fatal shooting of conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Authorities, including FBI Director Kash Patel and Utah Governor Spencer Cox, have stated there is no evidence to suggest the involvement of a second shooter. The suspect, described as wearing dark clothing and tactical gear, fired from a building approximately 200 feet away during Kirk's American Comeback Tour event. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a staunch ally of President Trump, was shot in the neck and later confirmed dead. Law enforcement briefly detained another individual who was later released but booked for obstruction of justice, while the investigation remains active. Governor Cox referred to the shooting as a "political assassination," underscoring the politically motivated nature of the attack.
