Multiple US, Canada Schools Plan Major Playground, Facility Upgrades

Several communities across the U.S. are investing in educational and recreational infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing accessibility and safety for children. In Litchfield Park, heavy machinery is actively preparing the site for the new Troy Gilbert Elementary School, targeting an August 2026 opening to serve the 2026-2027 school year. Everett plans to renovate its Garfield Park Playground in 2026, replacing outdated surfacing and adding new inclusive playground features, with community input actively sought to guide the design. Clarington is upgrading Lord Elgin Park with a larger, accessible playground featuring new play structures, accessible swings, and improved pathways, expecting completion by fall 2025. Miami-Dade County is undertaking a $21.6 million renovation and expansion of Riverside Elementary School, including a new building with increased student capacity and improved facilities, projected to finish by November 2027. Additionally, Lafayette Elementary School is organizing a volunteer cleanup event to prepare its playground for the upcoming school year.
