Sixty-seven killed in D.C. plane crash involving American Airlines, Army helicopter
Ian Epstein, a 53-year-old flight attendant, was among the 67 victims in the tragic January 29 crash of an American Airlines flight that collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport. Epstein had altered his schedule to attend a golf outing just days before the accident, with his ex-wife, Debi Epstein, sharing that he was not originally scheduled to be on the flight. Known for his passion for travel and his vibrant personality, Ian had become a flight attendant in February 2020, fulfilling a lifelong dream. The crash has prompted investigations by the Federal Aviation Administration, while personal stories of the victims, including Epstein, are emerging. Other victims included the Livingston family, who were returning home after their daughters attended an ice skating camp, and Robert Prewitt, a construction supervisor. The community is mourning the loss of these individuals, with tributes and support efforts underway for their families.
