An 18-year-old male was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries following a shooting at a Shell gas station in Tuscaloosa on Monday morning. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m., prompting the Tuscaloosa Police Department to dispatch officers to the scene. Shortly after, the victim arrived at DCH Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound. The Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, which has included interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. Police have issued warrants for 19-year-old Jason Martez Curry-Benson on charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied building; he was apprehended later that evening. Curry-Benson is currently held in jail without bond as further proceedings are awaited.
