Colts' Spencer Shrader Out After ACL, MCL Tears

The Indianapolis Colts will be without kicker Spencer Shrader for the rest of the season after he tore multiple ligaments — reported as the ACL and MCL — in his right (kicking) leg when Raiders safety Tristin McCollum collided with him on an extra-point attempt during Sunday’s 40-6 win; McCollum was flagged for roughing the kicker. The injury was first reported by Pat McAfee and has been confirmed by team and league sources. Shrader had been leading the NFL with 13 made field goals and 51 total points, finished the game 13-of-14 on field goals and 14-of-14 on extra points, and had been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month. Coach Shane Steichen said the team will support Shrader and is planning tryouts as it searches for a replacement, a difficult midseason task since the Colts have no kicker on the practice squad.
