Shropshire Woman Charged With Supporting Banned Hamas Organization
Sarah Wilkinson, a 62-year-old woman from Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, has been charged with five offences related to supporting the banned terrorist organization Hamas, following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands CTU. The charges include encouragement and dissemination of material related to Hamas, two counts of supporting a proscribed organization under the Terrorism Act, and failing to comply with a Section 49 RIPA notice by not providing passwords for digital devices. Wilkinson was arrested in August 2024 and subsequently released on bail while the investigation continued. Hamas, identified as a militant Islamist movement, is proscribed in the UK, and support for it is illegal. Wilkinson is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on October 20, 2025. The case highlights ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the UK to prevent support for organizations involved in violence and terrorism.
