SK Telecom Joins MIT GenAI Impact Consortium for AI Research

SK Telecom has joined the MIT GenAI Impact Consortium as a founding member, partnering with global leaders like OpenAI and Coca-Cola to explore the commercialization and societal impacts of generative AI technologies. The consortium aims to foster collaboration between industry and academia, providing a practical direction for the AI industry. SK Telecom plans to leverage this partnership to enhance its AI capabilities, focusing on advancements in information and communications technology, semiconductors, and bio-energy. The consortium will select key projects and begin research by the end of the year, with SK Telecom also set to launch its AI-powered personal assistant, Aster, by March. MIT officials emphasized their commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry to guide society through AI's transformative influence. CEO Yoo Young-sang expressed excitement about driving AI innovation through collaboration with MIT's faculty and other founding members.
