Superman Film Tops $579M, Releases On Streaming August 15

James Gunn's 2025 Superman reboot has become the highest-grossing Superman film in U.S. history, earning over $331 million domestically and $579 million worldwide. Following its successful month-long theatrical run, the film will be available for digital purchase and rental starting August 15 on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, with physical releases on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD scheduled for September 23. The initial digital release will lack special features, but these, including a making-of documentary, gag reel, deleted scenes, and director commentary, will be added later for purchasers. Despite its strong domestic performance, the film underperformed internationally, attributed to Superman's lower global popularity and some anti-American sentiment. Warner Bros. and Gunn are positioning this reboot as a fresh start for the DC Universe, with new projects like "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" and "Clayface" expected in 2026.
