Greensboro Man Arrested for Boone Hit-and-Run

Alejandro Facundo, a 21-year-old from Greensboro, was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run and driving while impaired after striking a bicyclist on US Highway 421 at Bamboo Road in Boone and fleeing the scene. The bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was treated at Watauga Medical Center. Facundo was apprehended shortly after the incident by Watauga County Sheriff's deputies, who identified his vehicle as an older model red GMC Sierra truck. Additional charges include driving with a revoked license, operating a vehicle without two headlamps, and a mirror violation. Facundo is being held at the Watauga County Detention Center on a $40,000 secured bond and has a court date set for June 30, 2025. The Boone Police Department thanked the Watauga County Sheriff's Office for their assistance in the investigation.
