Man Arrested After Rock Hits Vallejo Firefighter
An Oakland man was arrested after allegedly throwing a large rock at a fire engine in Vallejo, hitting a firefighter in the back of the head during an emergency response. The firefighter, who was wearing a protective helmet, required medical attention but was not named by authorities. The incident occurred near Sonoma Boulevard and Redwood Street, and the firefighter was part of an outside agency providing mutual aid to the Vallejo Fire Department. A coordinated police effort involving a Vallejo Fire Department battalion chief, who tracked the suspect, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter providing aerial surveillance led to the suspect's quick capture. The man, identified as 46-year-old Alakemenlee Siaplay, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a firefighter and booked into Solano County Jail. Authorities praised the teamwork between fire and police personnel in apprehending the suspect.
