PayPal Launches PayPal World Linking UPI, Global Wallets

PayPal is launching a new global platform called PayPal World, designed to enable interoperability between local digital payment systems and PayPal, thereby facilitating seamless cross-border payments for nearly two billion consumers and businesses. Key initial partners include India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Brazil's Mercado Pago, Tencent's Tenpay Global from China, and Venmo. The integration of UPI on PayPal World is seen as a significant step toward expanding the global footprint of India's digital payments system. PayPal World aims to simplify the complexity of international commerce using a cloud-native architecture with robust security features, allowing users to pay for overseas products using their regional payment networks without requiring a PayPal account.
