Bearded Bandit Admits to Second Bank Robbery
Justin Worley, known as the 'Bearded Bandit,' has pleaded guilty to robbing a TD Bank in East Providence, Rhode Island, on New Year's Eve 2019, marking his return to a bank he had previously robbed in 2012. Alongside an accomplice, Nicholas Lage, who was armed with a knife, they demanded tellers empty their drawers, making off with approximately $12,000. Worley, 44, had previously served over six years in prison for a spree of bank robberies in 2012, during which he robbed nine banks and stole over $32,000. Both men were apprehended hours after the robbery at Twin River casino. Lage pleaded guilty to similar charges in 2021 and received a three-year prison sentence. Worley is scheduled for sentencing on January 30, 2025.
