Worcester Man Charged in Grand Street Shooting

Givenchy Smith, a 24-year-old from Worcester, has been charged with armed assault to murder following a fatal shooting on Grand Street. The incident occurred when police responded to reports of gunshots and discovered an unresponsive man, later identified as Carlos Mangual, who was transported to a hospital and later died from his injuries. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Smith retrieving a firearm from his vehicle and firing multiple shots at Mangual after a verbal altercation. Smith subsequently contacted police, admitting to the shooting and providing his personal details. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for December 20.
