Massachusetts State Police Suspend Boxing Training

The Massachusetts State Police have suspended full-contact boxing training activities at their academy following the death of recruit Enrique Delgado-Garcia, who sustained fatal injuries during a training exercise. Delgado-Garcia, 25, suffered extensive injuries including missing teeth, a fractured neck, and a brain injury. The agency has initiated a comprehensive review of the defensive tactics program to ensure safety and effectiveness. Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early has recused his office from the investigation due to Delgado-Garcia's prior employment there, and an independent investigator is being sought. The State Police have expressed deep sympathy for Delgado-Garcia's family and are providing support to his loved ones and colleagues. Calls for a federal investigation have also been made by the ACLU of Massachusetts.
