Cartel Leader Castillo-Lopez Sentenced to Life for Texas Trafficking

Jose Ramon Castillo-Lopez, a 30-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to life in federal prison for leading a drug trafficking organization linked to a Mexican cartel. Castillo-Lopez was found guilty of orchestrating the distribution of significant quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl M-30 pills across Texas and Mississippi. His operations involved using stolen vehicles to transport drugs and money, and he had previously been charged with attempted capital murder for an incident involving a police officer. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute drugs in September 2024.
