Google Secures Long-Term NBCUniversal Deal for YouTube TV Expansion

Google and NBCUniversal have secured a multi-year, long-term distribution agreement that ensures YouTube TV will carry NBCUniversal's full portfolio of networks, including NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, CNBC, and others, thereby expanding entertainment options for YouTube TV's approximately 10 million subscribers. The deal includes the upcoming launch of the NBC Sports Network on YouTube TV and the availability of Peacock as a subscription through YouTube Primetime Channels and across Google's Android platforms. Additionally, films and TV shows from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will remain available for purchase or rental via Google TV and YouTube, with library films from NBCUniversal's Global TV Distribution accessible on YouTube Premium and ad-supported services. NBCUniversal emphasized that the agreement positions both companies for continued growth and reflects their commitment to delivering content across multiple platforms. However, a recent short-term extension was agreed upon to avoid disruption while negotiations continue, indicating that the long-term deal's finalization is still in progress. This extension ensures that NBC programming remains available on YouTube TV during ongoing discussions.
