Bloomfield Township Crash Injures Pregnant Woman, Premature Infant Dies

A tragic two-vehicle crash in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, near an IHOP on South Telegraph Road, resulted in the death of a premature infant born via emergency delivery after the mother, who was 23 weeks pregnant, was seriously injured. The crash occurred when a black Jeep Grand Cherokee ran a red light at a median crossing and broadsided a white Honda Accord, which was turning east from the median turn-around. The pregnant passenger in the Honda was extricated and taken to a hospital where the infant was delivered prematurely but died the following day. A child passenger in the Honda sustained minor injuries, and both drivers were hospitalized with injuries. The South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and police are seeking witnesses to come forward. Authorities have emphasized the severity of the crash and the impact of the Jeep driver's failure to stop at the red signal.
