Grayslake Man Charged With Child Pornography

Jose Real, a 52-year-old man from Grayslake, has been charged with three felony counts of possession of child pornography after authorities discovered over 1,000 explicit images and videos on his phone. The investigation began when detectives learned of suspicious downloads from the home he shares with a family member running an in-home daycare. During a search warrant execution on July 19, Real attempted to conceal his cellphone in a potted plant, but it was seized by detectives, revealing materials involving children as young as infants. The daycare has been shut down pending further investigation to determine any connection between the recovered materials and the children supervised there. Real is currently held in jail with additional charges anticipated, and a detention hearing is scheduled for Friday. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office urges parents to discuss inappropriate touching and grooming with their children, encouraging anyone who suspects victimization to contact law enforcement.
