Farage Urges Conservative Councillors to Defect

Nigel Farage has urged over 1,350 Conservative councillors to defect to his Reform UK party ahead of the upcoming local elections in May, describing the Conservative brand as 'broken' and a 'busted flush'. In a letter to the councillors, he warned that many are at risk of losing their seats against the rising popularity of Reform, which has increased its vote share significantly in recent elections. Farage emphasized that the party is prepared to field candidates in every council contest, unlike previous elections where they formed pacts with the Conservatives. He pointed out that some councillors have already made the switch, suggesting a growing trend among Tories to reconsider their allegiance. With the Labour Party's recent electoral successes, he framed the decision as a critical opportunity for those aligned with Reform's values. The Reform UK party currently has 28 local councillors and aims to capitalize on the Conservatives' internal conflicts and electoral vulnerabilities.
