Security in Jammu and Kashmir

As the 5th anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 approaches, security measures have been significantly heightened in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Akhnoor area. Police have established multiple checkposts and are conducting thorough checks of vehicles and documents to prevent any potential infiltrations from Pakistan. Superintendent of Police, Ajay Sharma, emphasized the constant vigilance due to increased terrorist activities in the region, which have included recent attacks on army convoys. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to hold a celebratory rally to commemorate the anniversary, while opposition parties like the Congress and PDP have denounced the event. Recent statistics indicate a spike in terror-related incidents, with 28 fatalities reported in July alone. The military has also engaged in confrontations with Pakistani forces, resulting in casualties on both sides.
