Seahawks Place Veteran Pass Rusher, Six Rookies on Injury Lists Ahead of Training Camp
The Seattle Seahawks placed veteran edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery, which was described by GM John Schneider as "nothing major" but requiring cleanup. Nwosu, who signed a restructured two-year, $19.51 million contract in March, has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, playing just 12 games. While he can return to practice at any point during training camp or preseason, if he remains on the PUP list when the regular season starts, he will miss the first four games. Meanwhile, six players, including rookie defensive lineman Rylie Mills who tore his ACL late in college, were placed on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list; these players can return to the active roster anytime upon passing physicals. The Seahawks began training camp with these injury considerations but have depth at pass rusher from new addition DeMarcus Lawrence and rising defenders Boye Mafe and Derick Hall. The team is managing cap space and roster health carefully to maintain competitiveness despite these injuries.
