Huddersfield Giants Sign Australian Forward Powell Through 2027

Huddersfield Giants have signed Australian forward Tristan Powell on a contract through the end of the 2027 Super League season, aiming to strengthen their struggling pack. Powell, 24, has experience playing in the Queensland Cup with Burleigh Bears and Brisbane Tigers, winning the competition in 2023 and earning player of the year honors twice. He made one NRL appearance last season for Melbourne Storm and is known for his strong work ethic and ball-playing ability, which Giants head coach Luke Robinson believes will enhance the team's attack. Huddersfield, currently 11th in the Super League with just one win from eleven matches, had a vacant overseas quota and salary cap space, allowing them to secure Powell’s signing. Powell expressed excitement about the move and hopes to feature in upcoming games after missing the recent match against St Helens.
