Eaton Fire Claims Lives in Los Angeles Area

Rodney Nickerson, an 83-year-old grandfather, was found dead in his bed after the Eaton Fire devastated his Altadena home, which he had lived in for over 50 years. His daughter, Kimiko Nickerson, shared that he refused to evacuate, believing the fire wouldn't reach his home and expressing confidence with his last words, 'I’ll be here tomorrow.' The Eaton Fire has claimed at least 10 lives, with Nickerson being one of them, reported alongside victims like 66-year-old Victor Shaw, who was found trying to combat the flames. The fire has burned approximately 10,600 acres with ongoing containment efforts. Kimiko reflected on her father's deep roots in the Los Angeles community and his long career at Lockheed Martin. Additionally, another elderly victim, Erliene Kelley, also declined to leave her home, highlighting a tragic pattern among residents during this disaster.
