Seattle Storm to Unveil Sue Bird Statue

The Seattle Storm will unveil a statue of Sue Bird outside Climate Pledge Arena on August 17, marking the first time a WNBA franchise has honored a former player with a statue. Bird spent her full 21-year WNBA career with the Storm, winning four championships, earning 13 All-Star selections, and becoming the league's all-time assists leader. She also secured multiple Olympic and World Cup gold medals. The statue, created by the Rotblatt Amrany Studio, will be revealed during a special ceremony, followed by a free fan fest and the 'Forever Sue' game against the Phoenix Mercury. After retiring, Bird joined the Storm ownership group and was recently inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The tribute highlights her impact on basketball and the Seattle community.
