Jabil Plans 1,200 Jobs $500M Investment North Carolina
Jabil Inc. is investing approximately $500 million to establish a new advanced manufacturing facility in Rowan County, North Carolina, aimed at supporting cloud computing and AI data center infrastructure. This expansion will create about 1,181 new full-time jobs by 2030, with an average wage exceeding $62,000, marking Jabil's fourth facility in the state. The project is expected to begin operations by mid-2026 in the former Gildan building located in Granite Industrial Park. Supported by a Job Development Investment Grant that could provide up to $11.3 million over 12 years, Jabil's investment is projected to generate a 115 percent return on public investment and contribute $3.2 billion to North Carolina’s economy over 12 years. State and local officials, including Governor Josh Stein, highlighted the significance of this expansion for the local workforce and the broader economic impact, especially in attracting innovation-focused employers and advancing AI technology. The initiative reinforces North Carolina’s position as a competitive location for manufacturing and AI infrastructure development.
