Veteran Actor Tom Troupe Dies at 97
Tom Troupe, a prolific American stage and screen actor whose career spanned over six decades, died at the age of 97 of natural causes at his Beverly Hills home. Born in Kansas City in 1928, Troupe served in the Korean War—earning a Bronze Star—before moving to New York in 1948 to train under Uta Hagen at the Herbert Berghof Studio. He made his Broadway debut in 1957 with The Diary of Anne Frank and later moved to Los Angeles, amassing over 75 television credits including Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, Cheers, and Frasier, as well as films like My Own Private Idaho, Kelly's Heroes, and The Devil's Brigade. Troupe frequently performed alongside his wife of nearly 60 years, actress Carole Cook, in productions such as The Lion in Winter and The Gin Game; the couple received the Theatre Ovation Award for Career Achievement in 2002. Cook, known for her own extensive career, passed away in 2023. Troupe is survived by his son Christopher, daughter-in-law Becky Coulter, granddaughter Ashley, and several nieces and nephews, leaving behind a legacy celebrated by colleagues, fans, and the theater community.
