Westerly plans $5.2 million Riverfront Renewal project

The Resilient Riverfront Renewal project in Westerly is progressing with approximately $5.2 million in funding aimed at transforming Main Street into a 'green corridor' to enhance stormwater resilience. Currently, about 70% of the design work is complete, with plans for phase one to commence this spring, focusing on collaboration with private property owners for effective stormwater management. Community input has been integral to the design process, and the Southern R.I. Conservation District is actively pursuing additional grants and partnerships to support the project. As the planning nears completion, the conservation district will present the final streetscape design to the Town Council. This initiative reflects a commitment to sustainability and infrastructure improvement in the region.
