Tropical Storm Nadine Brings Flooding to Belize

Tropical Storm Nadine is currently impacting Belize and the Yucatán Peninsula, bringing heavy rainfall and winds. It is moving west at 13 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, and is expected to weaken as it crosses northern Guatemala and southern Mexico, potentially dissipating by Sunday. Rainfall totals could reach 4 to 12 inches in affected areas, leading to flash flooding and mudslides, particularly in mountainous regions. Concurrently, Hurricane Oscar has slightly strengthened with winds of 85 mph, affecting the Turks and Caicos Islands and parts of the Southeastern Bahamas. Both storms have developed rapidly following an active hurricane season, which has seen a total of 15 named storms thus far. Neither storm is expected to impact the United States directly.
