Matthew Gray Gubler Stars in CBS Pilot Einstein

Matthew Gray Gubler is set to return to television as the lead and producer of CBS's new procedural pilot titled 'Einstein', which centers on his character, Lew Einstein, the great-grandson of Albert Einstein. In this role, Gubler's character is a tenured professor whose reckless behavior gets him in trouble with the law, leading him to assist a local detective in solving complex cases. The show, which has comedic undertones similar to Gubler's previous work in 'Monk', is based on a German series and aims to explore Lew's struggles with his family legacy and finding purpose. This marks Gubler's first major TV role since 'Criminal Minds', where he portrayed Dr. Spencer Reid until 2020. Despite expressing interest in returning to 'Criminal Minds', Gubler did not participate in the Paramount+ spinoff, leaving fans eager for his return. The pilot will be directed by Randy Zisk and written by Andy Breckman, both of whom are also executive producers.
