Netflix Orders 'Extraction' Series Starring Omar Sy

Netflix has officially greenlit a new TV series based on its popular 'Extraction' film franchise, with Omar Sy set to lead the cast. The eight-episode action thriller will follow Sy's character, a mercenary tasked with rescuing hostages in Libya while navigating conflicts between warring factions. Glen Mazzara, known for his work on 'The Walking Dead', will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the series. Netflix's Peter Friedlander expressed excitement about expanding the 'Extraction' universe, promising high-octane adventures and the exploration of complex characters facing moral dilemmas. The series will be produced by AGBO, the production company founded by the Russo brothers, who also produced the original films. This adaptation marks another instance of Netflix transforming successful movies into TV series, following the hit spinoff of the 'To All the Boys I've Loved Before' trilogy.
