Czech Initiative Raises £2.3M for Black Hawk Helicopter for Ukraine

The Czech crowdfunding initiative 'Darek Pro Putina' has successfully raised over 72 million Czech korunas (approximately $2.9 million) to purchase a UH-60A+ Black Hawk helicopter for Ukraine's military, marking a significant achievement in civilian support for Ukraine’s defense against Russia. Launched in November 2023, the campaign attracted contributions from more than 20,500 donors and exceeded its financial target, allowing it to secure a newer and more cost-effective helicopter than originally planned. The helicopter, equipped with advanced technology and defensive capabilities, will be used by Ukraine's Main Directorate of Intelligence for special operations and pilot training. This initiative showcases the growing role of grassroots movements in supplying military aid, previously considered the responsibility of national governments. The Black Hawk, known for its versatility, will significantly enhance Kyiv’s aerial capabilities as the conflict enters its third year. The successful fundraising demonstrates a remarkable example of collective civilian effort in supporting Ukraine's military needs.
