Meta Launches Real-Time Message Translation on WhatsApp for Multiple Languages

WhatsApp has introduced a new real-time message translation feature to help users communicate across languages more effectively. Users can long-press any message and tap "Translate" to convert it into another language, with the feature supporting personal chats, group chats, and channel updates. On Android, the initial rollout includes six languages such as English, Spanish, and Hindi, and allows users to enable automatic translation for entire chat threads, while iPhone users have access to over 19 languages. Importantly, all translations occur locally on the user's device to ensure privacy, meaning WhatsApp cannot access message content. The feature is being gradually rolled out with plans to add support for more languages soon. This update aims to break down language barriers and deepen connections among WhatsApp's more than 3 billion global users.
