WeightWatchers Launches GLP-1 Program, Amazon Partnership
WeightWatchers announced two initiatives to expand access to GLP-1 obesity medications: a partnership with Amazon Pharmacy to improve inventory visibility and enable refrigerated delivery, and the launch of WeightWatchers RxFlexFund, an employer-subsidized program covering 25%–75% of medication costs. The Amazon tie-up aims to ease access—especially in rural areas and for drugs requiring cold storage—but refrigerated drugs will not be available at some Amazon kiosks. RxFlexFund pairs direct manufacturer pricing with clinical and behavioral care through the WeightWatchers Clinic, offering obesity-trained clinicians, nutritional support tailored for GLP-1 users, dietitians and fitness specialists to boost adherence and manage side effects. WeightWatchers says the program gives employers predictable costs and could lower annual healthcare expenses, citing research on cost reductions when people move from obesity to overweight and reporting improved work-related quality of life among participants. These moves follow the company’s emergence from bankruptcy and a strategic focus on branded GLP-1 therapies — including an existing partnership to sell Wegovy — and WeightWatchers says it will continue to allow prescriptions through other pharmacies.
