BMW Debuts Neue Klasse iX3 Electric SUV With Advanced Tech
BMW is launching the 2026 iX3, the first production model built on its new 'Neue Klasse' platform, marking a significant shift in design, technology, and sustainability for the brand. This all-electric Sport Activity Vehicle introduces a new design language featuring slimmer, vertical kidney grilles with illuminated elements replacing traditional chrome, a monolithic aerodynamic silhouette with a drag coefficient of 0.24, and flush door handles, reflecting a modern yet distinctly BMW aesthetic inspired by the 1960s Neue Klasse models. Powered by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, the iX3 offers up to 400 miles of EPA-estimated range and features an advanced 800V electrical architecture enabling rapid charging. The vehicle incorporates a powerful electronics architecture with four 'superbrains' for enhanced driver support and a holistic approach to circularity, signaling BMW's commitment to sustainability and innovation across its future lineup. Production begins in autumn 2025 at the BMW Group Plant Debrecen in Hungary, and the iX3 50 xDrive variant, with 463 horsepower, will be available in the U.S. starting around $60,000. BMW Chairman Oliver Zipse emphasizes that the Neue Klasse represents the company’s biggest future-focused project, promising a transformative leap in technology and design that will influence the entire BMW range.
