Arizona Cardinals Plan $200M Training Facility North Phoenix 2028

The Arizona Cardinals are moving their training facility and headquarters from Tempe to a new site in north Phoenix, specifically at Paradise Ridge, west of Scottsdale Road and north of Loop 101, with a targeted opening in 2028. The new facility will span 30 acres and over 250,000 square feet, significantly larger than the current 14-acre, 156,000 square foot Tempe location, and will feature three natural-grass outdoor practice fields, an indoor turf fieldhouse, expanded locker rooms, advanced athletic training, sports medicine, strength and conditioning spaces, dining areas, meeting rooms, and a player lounge. The move follows years of low ratings for the existing facilities, including failing grades for their weight room and locker room, prompting a shift from an initially planned $100 million renovation to the construction of a brand-new facility. The Cardinals purchased the 217-acre property for $136 million this summer, marking a major investment in the team's infrastructure. Team owner Michael Bidwill emphasized the need for more space and thanked the City of Tempe for its support over the past 30 years, while Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego welcomed the project as a significant addition to the city. The design of the new headquarters and practice facility will be led by the sports architecture firm Rossetti.
