Itron, Schneider Electric, Microsoft Expand Grid Edge Partnership

Itron and Schneider Electric are expanding their partnership with Microsoft to enhance utility grid visibility and control through a new Grid Edge Intelligence solution. This collaboration aims to leverage Itron’s distributed intelligence technology to improve grid reliability by enabling real-time data integration, AI, and big data analytics. The initiative is designed to unlock new use cases for utilities, particularly during a time of infrastructure constraints where component lead times are significant. A non-wires solution will optimize the existing grid infrastructure, potentially increasing capacity by 20% while adhering to current design limits. This multi-company effort aims to facilitate seamless data flow and improve management of the electric distribution grid. Additionally, Eguana is collaborating with Itron to integrate its energy storage systems into Itron's grid edge solutions, further enhancing utility control capabilities.
