Congress Haryana In-Charge Deepak Babaria Resigns

Deepak Babaria, Congress' Haryana in-charge, has offered to resign following the party's unexpected defeat in the recent assembly elections, where the BJP secured 48 out of 90 seats, marking a historic third term. Babaria, who has been with the party for over 52 years, cited moral responsibility and health issues as reasons for his resignation offer, which he submitted to the party's high command immediately after the results were announced. He alleges malpractice and discrepancies in the voting process, particularly in 15 key constituencies that he believes influenced the BJP's victory. Congress leaders are conducting a review to understand the reasons behind the defeat and are forming a fact-finding team to investigate allegations regarding electronic voting machines (EVMs). Babaria previously offered to resign after the party's loss in the Delhi Lok Sabha elections but received no response. The Congress party is facing scrutiny as it had anticipated a strong performance in Haryana, contradicting the election outcome.
