Michael Douglas Presents Restored One Flew Over Cuckoo's Nest at Karlovy Vary
Michael Douglas will present a newly restored print of Miloš Forman’s 1975 film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest" at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The screening will be part of the festival’s "Out of the Past" section, and Douglas will be joined by producer Paul Zaentz, nephew of the late co-producer Saul Zaentz, along with members of Forman’s family. The film is notable for being only the second in Oscar history to win all five major Academy Award categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The event also honors Karlovy Vary’s enduring connection to the film and its creators, all of whom have received the festival's Crystal Globe for their artistic contributions. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest" marked a pivotal moment in Forman’s career, helping establish him as a major Hollywood director. The festival’s executive director, Kryštof Mucha, described the presence of Douglas, Zaentz, and the Forman family as making the screening an unforgettable moment in the festival’s history.
