Super Typhoon Pepito Triggers Mass Evacuations

Super Typhoon Pepito has prompted widespread evacuations across multiple provinces in the Philippines, notably affecting Quezon, Baguio City, and Sorsogon, as it brings heavy rains, strong winds, and potential storm surges. Over 87,000 residents were evacuated in Quezon Province, while Baguio City declared a Code Red status, highlighting the risk of landslides and flooding. In Sorsogon, more than 200,000 individuals took shelter in evacuation centers, with a curfew in effect to ensure public safety. The typhoon, also known as Man-Yi internationally, has caused extensive disruptions, including the cancellation of flights and the closure of roads and bridges. PAGASA, the state weather bureau, has issued high-level storm alerts across affected regions, warning of potentially catastrophic conditions.
