NY Liberty to Transform Factory into $80M Facility

The New York Liberty announced plans to build a state-of-the-art, 75,000-square-foot practice facility in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, set to open in 2027. The $80 million project, funded by the team's ownership, will transform an old lightbulb factory into a modern facility with two practice courts, a player lounge, individual player suites, and family-friendly amenities. The design, a collaboration between players like Sabrina Ionescu, Jonquel Jones, and Breanna Stewart, and the architectural firm Populous, emphasizes player wellness and community engagement. Noteworthy features include remote cameras for data tracking, recovery suites, and a publicly accessible Liberty-themed coffee shop. Co-owner Clara Wu Tsai emphasized the facility as a testament to their long-term commitment to the team and women's sports. This initiative follows a trend set by the Seattle Storm and highlights the Liberty's evolution into a premier organization under the Tsais' ownership.
