Meta Developing Instagram iPad App Amid TikTok Issues

Meta is developing a long-awaited Instagram app for the iPad, addressing user requests dating back to Instagram's launch in 2010. Previously, Instagram head Adam Mosseri cited the lack of priority and resources as reasons for not pursuing an iPad-specific app. This development comes amid Meta's strategic moves to capitalize on TikTok's uncertain legal status in the U.S., including increasing Reels' video length and launching the Edits app to attract creators. The new iPad app is expected to provide a better user experience than the current iPhone app on iPad, which is not optimized for larger screens. Meanwhile, Apple is preparing to release iOS 18.4.1, a minor update focused on bug fixes ahead of the anticipated iOS 18.5 release in May. The first iOS 19 beta is expected to debut following the WWDC 2025 keynote.
