Deputy Stabbed During Homeless Outreach in San Clemente

A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing an Orange County sheriff’s deputy, Amber Garcia, during a routine homeless outreach in San Clemente. The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. when Garcia sustained a non-life-threatening laceration to her neck, prompting a manhunt for the suspect, Moses Paulisin, a known transient. Following a search, park rangers apprehended Paulisin at San Onofre State Beach, and he faces charges including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Captain Justin Chevalier confirmed that Garcia is recovering at home and expected to make a full recovery. Authorities had issued warnings to avoid the area during the search for the suspect, who was described as a white male in his mid-30s.
