Rail traffic between Delhi and Mathura is gradually resuming after a goods train derailment disrupted services on multiple lines. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, affecting the Mathura-Palwal section and leading to the derailment of 25-26 coal-laden wagons intended for the Suratgarh Thermal Plant. Restoration efforts have seen the fourth line operational at reduced speeds, while the third line was restored by Thursday night. Meanwhile, 60 trains were diverted, and services on the first and second lines are still under repair. Nearly 500 workers are involved in clearing the tracks, and an inquiry is underway to determine the cause, including potential sabotage. Another derailment in Sonbhadra caused by a landslide also disrupted services but was resolved within hours.
